Riviera Maya - Top Things to Do?
My husband and I (we are in our early 30's) are going to Riviera Maya for 7 days. We are staying at Aventura Palace. We've heard of all the great things there is to do in that area. But we would like some recommendations on the top things that we should definilty not miss. Please provide your top things to do in Riviera Maya. thanks so much!

In no particular order:
Tulum Aquatic Expedition to Yalku Lagoon for snorkeling and cenotes ATV & Speedboat Maroma Loma Bonita Horseback Riding Chichen Itza Coba Ferry to Cozumel Xel-Ha Golf Jeep Safari Party Hopper Tour in Cancun Xcaret - stay for the night show Hidden Worlds Cenote snorkeling Sunset Cruise and dinner on the beach at Maroma Snorkeling Tours 5th Avenue in Playa for shopping, resturants and bars |
I believe Palace resorts include a couple of tours in the package, which visit some of the items KVR mentions. Check the Palace website, to see what your options are.

Tulum is one of the most beautiful places on earth. It pairs nicely with a visit to Coba, where most of the jungle has been left in place.

I just returned from a resort near Playa del Carmen. We spent one day at Xcaret - Had a wonderful time! Swimming with the dolphins was a great experience, one I'll never forget, and hope to repeat some day.

When you visit Tulum, be sure to make time for a swim! A lovely jewel of a beach, nice waves, gorgeous views from the water. I wore my suit under my clothes, stripped down and dove in. There is a shower facility somewhere on the grounds(which may be the one we saw in the little mall outside the gates)if you want to rinse off the salt.

I so agree with pipingcat! The beach at Tulum is gorgeous. Take a picnic!
I'd recommend hiring a car to visit Yal-ku lagoon rather than going with a tourist group so you can go early when it's quiet or late in the day... Visit a cenote (again you can go independently). Some are big, some small. Great to cool off in on a hot afternoon. Chichen Itza is stunning |
Oops...Snorkeling or SCUBA the reef would be my number one thing to do!
