Rio Wine Bars and Disco Clubs
 

Travelling to Rio in March 2003. Looking at visiting wine bars and disco clubs at night.<BR>Are the following places good choices and are they SAFE???<BR>In Leblon: Alvaro's wine bar; People's disco club<BR>In Ipanema: Pax Delicia and Alcool Puro wine bars; Galeria Care and Club Case disco clubs<BR>In Lagoa: Resumo da Opera disco club<BR>Let me know your thoughts on these places and your recommedations.<BR><BR>Herb

Yes, Herb, these are safe places. However, as I don't know Galeria Care and Club Case, I can't comment on them, just the others you mentioned.<BR><BR>I do prefer Mistura Fina, at Av, Borges de Medeiros, and also Esch cafe, a cigar bar, at Rua Dias Ferreira, also in Leblon, to to Alvaro's. However, Alvaro isn't a bad choice. Pax Delicia is a nice place, and I've heard Alcool Puro is, too. There's also Academia da Cacha&ccedil;a, at Rua Conde Bernadotte, in Leblon, and Bar do Tom, at the Churrascaria Plataforma, also in Leblon.<BR><BR>There's a disco called Bardot at Rua Dias Ferreira which is often packed, and the people I see getting in are all nice, so, it must be good. Since I don't attend to discos, I rather trust in the kind of crowd that does.<BR><BR>I hope it helps,<BR><BR>S

Herb, where ever you got the names of those places from is a list of fine establishments. Most places are safe inside, just be carefull getting there. Peoples club is a nice upscale club for a very nice Brazilian crowd and Pax Delicia is a restaurante that I go to every so often, nice crowd both locals and tourists and they have a nice little bar and a friendly staff.

There are two new disco'e Nuth and Bedrooom. They are in Barra. You will like them.

Also Melo Melo in Lagoa.
