Restaurants and shops near the Hilton, Cancun

Hi there,
we will be staying at the Hilton and are wondering what if any, restaurants and shops are close by the Hilton. I do realize it is a fair way from all of the action.
It sounds like the public bus is the best way of getting around.
What are your thoughts?

mosstly on account of the Hilton's golf course - which occupies a lot of the lagoon side of Blvd Kulkulcan - there isn't much by way of independent businesses or eateries within walking distance. There are a number of restaurants and clubs (again, on the lagoon side) as you proceed north from the Hilton, but these are spread out and pretty far between. You'll have to cab it, or take the bus, aqt least as far north as the Plaza Kulkulcan before you start getting into target rich environments.

A fairly representative website is

If timing and crowding are a concern, then the busses are not real handy especially if you have bags of whatever to tote, but are handy and fun otherwise.

Cabs are not cheap but compared with fares in the Chicago Loop or any other US major destination are very reasonable - just have the doorman verify what the fixed charge for your destination ought to be.

definitely take the bus! Cheap and fun. The restaurant Laguna Grill is not far, and it's a wonderful place!

Thanks for your replies.
I will check out the cancun web site.
Can you walk to the Laguna Grill or do you need to take the bus?
It will only be my husband and I, so catching the bus won't be a big deal.
Does the bus stop at the malls and other restaurant areas?
Thanks again

I can't remember! A wonderful resource for cancun is -- or -- their maps give you a list of where everything is in Cancun hotels, restaurants, etc. It's worth its weight in gold...much more than a map.
