Restaurant recommendations in Cabo San Lucas and San Jose

Been going to Dreams Timeshare Resort in Cabo for years and haven't left the resort in the past 3 years - feel like we've tried all the old and great restaurants in the past......and Cabo has become sooo Commercial/Americanized.
If we decide to go out this time - to either CSL or San Jose, does anyone have any recommendations? (Hubby has food allergies - hot spices and esp. garlic...so have to be careful!) Thanks, eb

The best meal we've had in Mexico was about an hour north of Cabo in Todos Santos at Cafe Santa Fe, which serves Italian cuisine. Open for lunch in case you don't want to drive back at night. Often need reservations since so many people drive up just to eat there.

In San Jose we never really found the right place, but Damiana has excellent ambiance if you are sitting outside under the trees. But food was just OK, I thought.

In the corridor we had an excellent meal at Arrecifies, the 'fancy' restaurant at the Westin, but it was pretty expensive. Probably the 2nd best meal we've had in Baja.

Sounds like you already know about Cabo restaurants ...

I loved several of the restaurant in downtown Cabo San Lucas. I don't think it is "commercialized/americanized" if you go to the right places. Here were my favorites for dinner last year:
Misiones de Kino www.misionesdekino.com
Capo San Giovanni www.caposangiovanni.com
and Maros Shrimp House on Hildalgo

Thank you both. Will try the links Bill. We've been up to Cafe Santa Fe a couple of times in the past and it is nice. Haven't tried any of the three you mentioned Suze (except maybe the Maros Shrimp House), so will check out the links for the other two also.
One more question if you don't mind....do you know if the sand dunes are still open, and if so, do they still have ATV tours up there? Haven't done this in years....

I liked Misiones de Kino so much I went twice (in a short one week stay). Sorry don't know about dunes or ATV tours.
