Restaurant help

After 25 years we are returning to Puerto Vallarta. Got so sick that time eating from a fish vendor on the beach. Now, I'm more mature and an willing to try it again. Going in beginning of November for a week and staying a the Villa del Palmar. Any suggestions as to nice and tasty seafood and/or Mexican cuisine places?

Wow - that is a long time to stay away! Welcome back! I would highly recommend the following for seafood: El Coleguita's in the Marina or a few blocks from the Sheraton; Mariscos Tinos el centro; or La Laguna in Nuevo Vallarta. Those are your best bets for high quality seafood with spending a fortune. Also try El Dorado by Boca Bento - where the old El Dorado used to be - next to La Palapa on Los Muertos beach.

oh no, not the dreaded 'fish on a stick'??? no need to try THAT again -lol- truly.

i love puerto vallarta, but i stay downtown so don't really know the food options out my your resport.

There's a lively forum for PV over at Trip Advisor including loads of restaurant recommendations. check it out.

Hope you will check out my latest post ... we love to eat out in Vallarta, and over the years have tried many small, good, and inexpensive Mexican and fish/seafood places. I've just summarized our dining experiences for the past couple of stays in a Trip Report titled "Eating well, inexpensively - our dining out in Puerto Vallarta".
Hope it'sof some help.
Good wishes,
John

El Dorado by Boca Bento is not open yet.
The very best seafood is Mariscos Polo on F. Madero, just east of Insurgentes.

If you REALLY are determined to eat fish/shrimp on a stick at the beach, go to where they are making it & buy it fresh off the grill. Not after it's been walking up & down the beach with a vendor in the hot sun for a couple hours.
