Rentals in Puerto Vallarta

I'm flying into Guadalajara in mid-February with my boyfriend. We are two 24-year-olds, and this will be our first time in Mexico (I don't count my weekend in Cancun). We are planning on spending a day or two in Guadalajara and then heading over to Puerto Vallarta for about a week. I think it would be nice to get a one-bedroom apartment/house/studio rather than a hotel room. However, I only see villas sleeping 6 or more people on the web. Does anyone have any recommendations of good neighbourhoods and rental agencies (do we have to to be in PV proper?)?

If we go a bit outside the center of everything, will it be hard to find outdoor activities (he doesn't like to sit around, so I'm supposed to look for other things to do).

Thanks so much.

Try Wendy at [email protected]. You can get one bedroom condo's in old town. And just a personal opinion--, but YES, you do want to be in the middle of things. Puerto Vallarta Centro is a walking paradise. Walk the town, walk the beach (north and south). If you do get a hotel room, say at Los Arcos on the beach with a beach balcony, you would not be spending much time in the room. There is too much to see and do. Good Luck.

Be careful about renting condos. We rented a very nice place overlooking the city, but absolutely had to have a car to get anywhere. Believe me, it is not fun to drive in P.V. If you want to visit Bucerias, or someplace else close by, either rent a car for the day, or take the bus.

We moved from the condo to the Playa Los Arcos and had a room with a kitchen right on the beach, and we were directly in the heart of downtown.

Good selection for condos and hotels but book as early as you can since this is high season. I will be back in March, then May. Love SouthSide!!!

I would definitely stay right in town, there are loads of condos on Playa Los Muertos, the main local beach on the south side sometimes called Old Town. Either there or in El Centro (downtown) would be my pick. You wouldn't need a rental car.

Twice I've rented apartments but they were very basic so am not sure they'd be what you have in mind. Also neither had a pool, which I do enjoy and missed having.
