rental car in cabo

I like to rent a car when in Cabo. The airport is 30 minutes from Cabo San Lucas, and resorts are spread out all over the corridor between San Jose del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas, so mobility is tough without a car.
You also have the flexibility for touring and dining in and around the area (cabs are generally expensive - $20.00 each way from the corridor hotels to Cabo); San Jose and Todos Santos are fun.
Roads are in very good shape, and you can rent through US car companies (I always use Orbitz).

We rented once from Avis, and had a disaster(no car at the airport, during a holiday vacation with a confirmed reservation nor did they help us obtain a car from anyone.
Have rented from both budget and dollar and had good experiences with both.
