Release of 2007 Argentina Guide Books?
 

We are planning on a trip to Argentina next year and I plan on buying a couple of guide books. I know that Fodors released an adition this year.

Does anyone know if Lonely Planet or Rough Guide plan on releasing one soon? I would rather buy an up to date guide book than one that is a couple of years old.

Bradt Travel Guides is publishing an updated guide to Argentina in October. I have never used a Bradt guide, but, published in London, they seem to be along the same lines as Lonely Planet and Moon Handbooks.

Do a search for "Bradt Argentina" on Amazon.com to find the info.

We went to Africa last year.

I found the Brandt book on Rwanda was by far the best book we had when on vacation last year. We were visiting the Mountain Gorillas.

All other books were less detailed - Fodor, Lonely Planet, etc.

The Brandt Rwanda was absolutely more complete and written in a much clearer way.

I bought a copy on the web and it was at my door a few days later.

Most books are out of date when published.
Perhaps you might want to visit www.tripadvisor.com forums for current info.

Yeah, Mike. I spend a lot of time on tripadvisor.com and several other travel sites, however, I like to carry refer to a few guide books as well.

We travelled to Chile/Argentina last winter.

Footprint was the best that I could find. We used the same publisher about 12 years ago when we went for the first time. It was better then.

I would suggest that you go to your public library, take out a number of books for your destination and look through them all. Then buy what appeals to you.

The sights will not change. I would not depend on accommodation rates, timetables or other timely topics as already noted by another poster, the book is outdated as it comes off of the press.

We spent 3 weeks in Argentina in May, including a week in Buenos Aires. Frommer has a Buenos Aires book that was published at the end of 2005 that was very good.
