Recomended Estancias
I am planning a trip to Argentina for the last 2 weeks of November and would like to stay at an estancia, probably in Patagonia. Does any one have a recommendation. Also, is 4 days about the right amount of time, given all the other "must see" places in Argentina.

i wouldnt stay 4 days in an estancia in Patagonia nor in any other estancia. it is a lot of time if you have only 2 weeks which is not little.
There are estancias very near the glacier Perito Moreno and also near Ushuaia, the latter is better because you would at least visit the whole island which is really generous in its landscapes.
regards,

Thank you very much for your reply.
I will plan on 3 days, which seems to be about the minimum considering travel time to the region. I was thinking about either an estancia near Ushuaia or El Calafate. I would like a recomendation as to which area would be more interesting and a specific estancia to use a base to see the region. If neccessary, I am willing to spend up to US$150 per person per night, but would obviously like to spend less if I can find a nice place to stay.
Best regards,
Jim

if you asked me i d stay in ushuaia for the 3 days. and if possible 2 days in Calafate. From one city to the other you must take the plane. There is an excellent place just in front of a glacier on the island of Tierra del Fuego. This is a very special place. I know it myself. i ll get the mail address and pass it to you. Give me yours so i can save time. November is a good month cause all the routes are open and all excursions are possible. I will contact directly Tierra del Fuego and i will let you know. After Calafate you should go to the lake district where you can stay in any of the wonderful places there, let`s say 3 days more. San Martin de los Andes, Angostura, Bariloche. or if you want to change the scenery go to the Atlantic coast to a peninsula where the whales are. If you can make it by plane that will economise lots of time and you will have a chance to stay more time in each one, which i personally think is the best thing you can do.
The same day you arrive, same airport some hours later you can make it for Ushuaia There was a very cheap flight
open to everybody for 627 $ Arg. I have to check if it is still possible.
you can buy it abroad with your visa card. There is also a program for tourist for domestic flights which is not bad if it is your intention to move by plane.

This links will provide ideas for outdoors / hotels / attractions in Argentina. I recommend travellers to do some homework on the www before booking as there are still many ttt that don´t have good exposure on the web.
Forums like Fodors and Trip Advisor offer EXCELLENT help. I have travelled extensively in S.America and USA ( many moons ago ) and this forums would have been extremely helpull !!

I'm confused here. Yesterday, someone who seemed to know what he/she was talking about told me that "ttt" meant "to the top" and now nephew santiagov uses it in a way in which it cannot possibly mean "to the top". Are there several meanings for this "ttt" business?
