Reading the schedule and information on www.ticketbus.com.mx - HELP!!

Hello all --

I am planning my 9 day honeymoon in Cancun for June 14-June 23rd and had a question about bus service.

We would like to take a day trip to Merida and use the bus system. I know from reading these message boards that www.ticketbus.com.mx is a great site to get info about bus schedules and fares but I get confused reading it.

For instance - going from Cancun to Merida it shows bus times starting at 1:00 AM but trip durations are all listed as 0:00. Does this mean that there is no bus departing at this time?

There is a bus scheduled for departure at 8:30 AM with a 3:30 duration. Am I reading this correctly?

Thanks!!!

I couldn't get it to give me any sked in June but in March it came up with 6 departures from 8:30 am to 8:00 pm at a cost of 219 pesos with durations of 4:16 or 4:26 hours with one stop.

Cheers,
Andrew

Sometimes, the ticketbus site gives strange replys! They often don't post schedule too far in advance. The ride to Merida is about 4 hours but is usually non-stop. I prefer either the ADO-GL or UNO lines.

I wouldn't worry about it. Once you are there, a day or two in advance either go to a ticketbus outlet or the bus station itself and get your tickets. In almost all cases you can get a bus the day you want to travel, but by doing it a little in advance you will be able to get a seat on one of the first class lines. If you want to spend the money I'm with Robert above- I like ADO's service, primera-good, GL better- and UNO best. For this short of a trip any would be fine.

Agree with Dude--no need to reserve far in advance. I often travel with my friends (a Mexican family) and they never buy tickets far in advance. It is rare that we don't get on the bus we want.

Don't worry! You are on a honeymoon. Merida is much nicer than Cancun and well worth taking your time.
There are lots of buses and they are all interesting.
Here are some of my favourite places in the Yucatan that I am posting as a blog.
