Dinner in San Jose del Cabo, trying to find a restaurant from 22 years ago.
More than 20 years ago we were in San Jose del Cabo. We had a wonderful seafood dinner at a little restaurant on the second floor of a building. We found the restaurant as we were walking up the left side of the main street going from the beach inland. I am posting this in the hopes that someone will know the restaurant and will be able to tell me whether it is still there and the name of it.

I've been coming to San Jose since the late 80's and now live here full time. I don't think there are any two storey buildings on the left hand side of Mijares as you're walking from the beach. As a matter of fact in the early 90s, there were hardly ANY restaurants in town, the only second storey one I remember was Restaurant Diana's, which was about a block up from Mijares on Doblado. It was a fabulous little place but sadly, long gone. To see an up-to-date directory of San Jose restaurants, check out www.baja.com/san-jose-del-cabo/restaurants and I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at the variety of restaurants that we enjoy now.

Some of my favorites include Taqueria Rossy, Mariscos Sandy's, El Tio Lupe, Marcella's, La Nana Rosa and the Tropicana Inn. More details on most of these can be found on Baja.com - www.baja.com/san-jose-del-cabo/restaurants

Are you sure it wasn't in Cabo San Lucas? I remember a 2nd story restaurant there about 24 or 25 years ago with a similar description of where it was and I was thinking it started with a "D" and now that I've seen the name in the replies, I think it was something like Diana's. I do remember was above a jewelry store. I was in Cabo 1/11 and looked for it (not remembering the name), but didn't find any second story restaurant in that area. It had been an excellent restaurant and we wouldn't have found it on our own but had a friend that was a semi-local and he knew it.
