Rain in CR in February?

Hello,

We'll be in CR in February. This is our second trip. I know it's not the "green" season but I know it could rain anyway. Would it be worth dragging our raincoats with us next month? We will be staying in Samara & MA. Thanks

Although others might advise differently, I have to say that we don't even take rain gear in the rainy season. We use umbrellas occasionally, but never pack raincoats. I probably wouldn't bother with one if it was packed. If I planned to be hiking in the rain, I'd probably feel differently. That is something we usually do earlier in the day. For sure I wouldn't bother with it in February. Just me! Have a great trip. . .

I would never go to Costa Rica without my rain jacket. I spend a lot of time outdoors and need my hands free, so an umbrella would be cumbersome to me. I was just there and it rained quite heavily one entire day, and there were late afternoon showers on many other days. People who didn't have rain gear got soaked and then were cold the rest of the day. At the beach it doesn't matter so much. Rain can and does come at any time.

I can't speak for Manuel Antonio, but the chances of rain on the Nicoya Peninsula in February are pretty slim. The rains don't usually start there until late April or May, at the earliest. In the unlikely event that you do see rain, it probably wouldn't last very long. I wouldn't bother dragging rain gear along.
