Rafting on the Pacuare River

We were wondering if anyone has recently done the Two day rafting trip down the Pacuare river,Costa Rica. The Pacuare Lodge or the Rios Tropicales? Is this worth doing. Sounds fun. Wondering if worthwhile going for the two day trip instead of the one day trip.

A recent trip report on travel to CR Caribe on the Lonely Planet forum raved about their overnight on the Pacuare and a responder did also.

I went on the one day Pacuare trip a little over a year ago. The two day looks great but realize that you do not get any more rafting. You do the same river trip but in two days. We passed the lodges on the way down the river and they looked pretty. But you are at the lodge with everyone else on the trip not by yourself... So, for the money, I probably wouldn't do it. I think I've read trip reports here so you could search for it. Our understanding is the Pacuare is slated to get flooded for electricity so go while you can. Was one of the highlights of our trip (which was full of highlights).

I rafted on the Pacuare (1-day) with Rios Tropicales last week.. Millie is right in that you raft the same distance (something like 20 miles total) whether you do the 1 or 2-day trip. We passed their lodge after just about an hour and a half on the river--we certainly didn't even need a break yet.

In my opinion the 2-day trip appears to incorporate much more downtime than I would prefer. With all there is to do in CR, I'm glad we did the 1-day so we could move on to a new place the next day.

By the way, the trip was beautiful and well worth the time and money, and although water levels are supposedly high this time of year, the river still wasn't too wild..

Thank-you very much for your replys. We will probably do the one day trip. We are staying for a few nights at the Peace Lodge. Is that too far out from the Pacuare River? We leave for CR in two days. Can't wait!

I have also done the one day raft trip. It is an exilerating experience.
The two day gives you time to luxury camp in the jungle with the sounds and sights you don't have much time to appreciate when you are caught up in the white water paddling for your life. The overnight areas also have some hiking trails to explore.
