question about Tulemar property
 

Hi everyone,
I was wondering if all the Tulemar reviews apply only to the Mot Mot accomodations or if anyone has stayed in the Tulemar bungalow, in particular the Green Coast Bungalow??? I booked it for 4 nights and was curious as to the reviews. I know that there is no longer a restaurant on the property and unfortunately there is no balcony, but I am hoping everything else is above par. I would have prefered Mot Mot but it was booked for our dates.

We stayed in a bungalow (and don't remember which one) for one night last summer before we moved into Lower Mot Mot. It was huge and roomy with LOTS of great windows for a magnificent view. 2 large rooms with kitchenette.

I just can't believe they don't have their restaurant anymore. We never ate there (I guess no one else did either), but they served a wonderful breakfast which was always included. Surely they still do that?

No sadly its true, there is no restaurant anymore and therefore no breakfast included. I think they still have food service at the beach though. Honestly, it is why I had second thoughts about the property. I love having breakfast included and not having to worry about it but I am going Easter week and a lot of places were booked.

We just returned last night from Tulemar. We stayed in a bungalow right next to the restaurant and pool that was closed. It would have been very nice for us if it was open. We ate lunch at the beach on the property and it was very good, they do have a breakfast ($15/pp buffet). We did not eat breakfast there. The property is built into a steep hill and every walk is a work out!! The walk to the beach is ok but straight down, up would be miserable. They have a shuttle to drive you back from the beach. The property is pretty.... monkeys, lizards, sloths and birds are everywhere. Our bungalow had no balcony, but the windows are huge and the views are beautiful. The room was just ok but clean. We did not spend much time in our room. The airconditioner rattled all night long!!!

We stayed in a one bedroom villa (Buena Vista) and really enjoyed everything about the property. While not having the breakfast would be a bummer, we enjoyed the free breakfast but that's the only meal we ate on property, there's a grocery store and several restaurants within walking distance. Cafe Milagro is a wonderful spot with great pancakes, prices, & coffee (I order my coffee from them still)! Enjoy!

Thanks for your feedback on Tulemar. Sounds like I am going to get quite a workout since we are also staying at Lost Iguana which is also built on a hill. Maybe I will finally shed those extra few pounds :-)
If you don't mind my asking is it also a hike to get to the restaurants, like Cafe Milago, which are walking distance and did you all have a car while you were there? We are thinking of flying on Sansa to MA but maybe renting a car while we are there and I was wondering if we should get it the very first day.

No need to rent a car if you are staying in MA. We used taxis ($8 for 6 of us to get MA park) and walked. We even used the bus twice, which was so easy and at the time was better than waiting for a taxi. There are several very good restaurants within walking distance (we really liked Barba rosa (spelled wrong) and Cafe Milagro. With the private beach at Tulemar, there is no need to travel to Manuel Antonio park to go the beach. There is also a large grocery store right next to the property.

nancyjacky -- Yes, pretty much everything is on the hill. Good thing is you get to go DOWN as well. ;-) Tulemar/BVV has shuttles - you just have to call and there are designated areas they will pick you up and take you up to the main road. If you call a taxi they will also enter and pick you up at the designated area (spots scattered throughout the grounds).

I will clarify, not EVERYTHING is on a hill but a fair amount of restaurants and most of the hotels.

yes, yes, all the information helps. Thank you all so much for your posts. At least now I am prepared and will have in tow my hiking shoes. Also, happy to hear there are some good local inexpensive restaurants and coffee shops close by. I hate to cook on vacation.
