PV in February

Hi,
I posted earlier about the JW in Cancun, I appreciate everyone's help with the situation. We are not thinking of switching to PV, even though the airfare is outrageous! Is PV very warm in February? I noticed that a lot of the hotels were not as expensive as other hotels in the carribean and Mexico in February. I booked a room at the Westin for a very reasonable rate. I was just wondering if anyone had visited PV during this time?

Hi,
Sorry for the typo, it should read "we are now thinking of"

Puerto Vallarta is gorgeous in February. Typically sunny and low 80's F.

I believe PV can be less expensive than the high-end specific tourist resort development destinations, at least within dothe Old Town. In my early travels someone gave the reason that because it is also a beach resort favorite for Mexican families that stabilized prices somewhat.

oops... downtown/the Old Town/El Centro

I was just there this past year at the end of Feb. The weather was warm and really just nice. Beautiful sunsets, warm in the evening.
It really should be a perfect time to go.

I think most of the beach resort towns are warm in February because they are quote to the equator. They are pretty warm all year round -- at least enough for it to be beach weather.

I think PV does have more reasonable hotel rates than many other Mexican resort cities. I don't know why, but it's a good thing.

PV's a great town, but the hotels don't compare to Cancun. They are generally older, not as luxurious -- the only one that will compare to the JW will be the Four Seasons Punta Mita.
However, that doesn't mean they are not nice, and comfortable, just simpler.

Frankie is right hotels aren't the same however my favorite is the Marriott just about the same as the Casa Magna in Cancun not the JW Heard good things about the Westin

We go to PV every other year. It's like a second home. We always stay at Meza Del Mar which is a Mexican run hotel at the end of the beach. No city hubbub there and you can walk to town if you want. It is all inclusive at a really good price. The beaches are better on the south side of town IMO. Also we love buying from the beach vendors and they have freer access to tourists there. They are not annoying and a simple nada sends them to another palapa.

Is the ocean warm enough to swim in in Feb ? Or do you have to wait till April-May for that ?

butsey Nov 18th, 2005 06:07 AM

Ocean is pretty cold in Feb Warm now all depends on the temps at that time. Just returned was in the 90's water was great clear and not rough like it has been in past visits.

I'm not an ocean swimmer myself, but definitely I see people swimming each year in Dec, Jan, Feb.

Just returned from PV Nov.18 - December 2. Ocean swimming good November through May that I know of from past experience. My husband and I will return January 5th through February 12 and expect warm weather. I don't think you will be dissappointed. Have Fun.
