Punta del Este - Hotel La Forest - Best Western

Hi everyone.

I'll be staying at the Best Western La Foret in Punta del Este next month. Anyone know of this hotel? Any suggestions on Punta del Este?

Thanks.

Casa del Pueblo which was once the home of celebrated Uruguayan artist Carlos Paez Vilaro,is well worth visiting. This eye-catching seaside Mediterranean-style structure is today a modern art museum.

Hi Newyorkais it is me again, I am not directly familiar with La Foret in Punta del Este, but I know well Punta del Este and I checked the location which in my opinion is an important factor .
It is located in front of the Playa Mansa, which is the quiet beach of Punta, personally I prefer the other beaches( with waves). I could not figure it out if it is directly facing the beach or a block away. From the hotel in Parada 6 you have a fairly long walk to the downtown area of Punta, probably more that 10-12 blocks, you are a short walk to the Casino located in the Conrand Hotel, I believe this hotel is in Parada 3.
How many days are you going to be there?
THe key to enjoy Punta in my opinion is to have a car. Then from La Foret it is a short drive to all the other beaches, and to downtown and to all the restaurants. Punta I do not know if you are familiar with it is a resort, a place where you are supposed to go to the beach everyday, to may be play tennis ( courts for rental in many places) or play golf which I believe you can also pay a fee and play, and rent the clubs. Or better still to go a day fishing or sailing. At night it is a very lively little town, many "boliches" to dance all night till early morning.
The in beaches, probably not the mansa are crowded with lovely girls in bikinis, and so on...
The hotel as facilities go, it is for what I saw ok.
Maybe in tripadvisor they have reports from other guests.

Graziella,

Thank you so much for your response. Do you also know of a hotel in Punta del Este called the Jean Clevers Parque Hotel? It is located in the Lido neighborhood near the downtown area. I will be arriving from Buenos Aires via the Buquebus. Is it possible to walk or take a bus from the bus station to these hotels? I don't plan on renting a car during my stay in Punta. Also, could you tell me what the weather is usually like at the end of Novemnber in PdE?

Thanks very much.

Hi I am sorry buy I am not sure were the bus station is.I have some kind of an idea though, I would bet that it is a long walk to the Foret, to the other one I am not sure.
I do not believe there is much of local transportation in Punta, but again I do not know for sure. I would call the hotels and ask them. I guess local workers ride bikes or drive.
Late November's weather is kind of a toss up. THe Summer, high season, stars officially on December 21,however I recall lovely beach days in early December......
