Puerto Vallarta Vacation
We're planning to go to Puerto Vallarta in July of 2001. We are considering staying at the Camino Real or Fiesta Americana. Are there shops, restaurants, and other attractions within walking distance of these hotels. Also, are buses and taxis readily available from these locations. Does anybody have other hotel suggestions. Thanks.

More stores close to Fiesta Americana but the Camino Real is, IMHO, much nicer with a semi private beach. Easy access to either by taxi or bus.
Hasta,
JR

Camino Real is fabulous--private beach and great restaurants--$2.00 cab ride to town each way--great shopping and restaurants closeby.

We need to get in touch!!! I've been to Puerto Vallarta 4 times and it is very fun. But to answer your question, the Camino Real is a very classy, elegant, nice place to stay. They are very friendly workers there.

Camino Real is a very very plush hotel on a beautiful beach. It is a ways out of downtown to the south - so you'd need to use a cab to get around (but they're cheap). Have not heard as good about Fiesta Americana but this is rumor not my personal experience. To be near shops, restaurants, etc. people usually stay in El Centro or "old town south of the river" areas rather than the resorts which are mainly outside town to the north or south.
