We also do a week in the marina and a week in Nuevo. In the marina, be sure to visit Victor's Cafe Tecuba. It is very inexpensive and the food and drinks are great. Victor is a great guy. In Nuevo, try Fajita Republic and Guidos for Italian food (it is walkable from the Mayan Palace complex. In downtown PV, we love the Red Cabbage Cafe....

For those who have stayed out at Nuevo, does anyone have info on bus accessibility for going into town? I know there are taxi's, but the price of $30 doesn't thrill me. Only 3 more days til we head to PV and I can hardly wait!

There's a regular bus service by the ATM Bus Line, every 20min at peak times, about 12 pesos I think. This will take you to the northern part of Puerto Vallarta, you'll need to switch to a city bus to go further.

Must add "Bolero" to my list of favorite PV cafes. At the North end of the Island beyond The Bistro, it has a lovely setting, good food & a great staff. Moderate prices. Check it out!

Just got back from PV this past saturday. loved it we stayed in Nuevo vallarta, for authentic foods we walked or taxi'd to Buceria. Highly recommend Francisco's Meson bay right on the beach, great seafood combination for Two. all around good mexican food shrimp ceviche! for a little fancy place mark's bar and grill in Buceria was fantastic. pan seared tuna with pasta was great! great setting. all the taxi driver's know these places. $6 USD from Nuevo Vallarta.

Has anyone been to Los Xitomates recently? We went there on our last trip to PV and liked it, but I've read mixed reviews elsewhere.

jag1~ if you don't get an answer here, you might check over on the PV forum at Trip Advisor (there's lots of Vallarta residents and regulars posting there)
