Puerto Vallarta Restaurants

Staying at an all inclusive while there, but plan to go to dinner outside of the resort a couple of the nights. What are a couple of must go to restaurants including something romantic? Thanks!

#1 in PV IMO is The Red Cabbage. Great food at reasonable prices in a out of the way location. Owner MS. Lola Bravo has been a positive force on the PV scene for over 30 years.

Romantic evening:
Go to El Nido (rooftop bar) at Chez Elena (restaurant)for drinks at sunset... then take a taxi down to La Palapa (on Playa Los Muertos - beach) for dinner at a table right on the sand, with mariachis strolling to serenade you.

For the great food and fun funky atmosphere: The Red Cabbage in Remance district.

For upscale in downtown: Trio

here is our favorite for romantic LaPalapa right on the beach. Also Vista Grille right on a hill overlooking P.V. Very Romantic & good food

I'd add El Arrayan, traditional recipes with a larger menu than the Red Cabbage, more tables as well.

More Tables? So? Larger Menu? So? Big long menus normally mean average food at best. Best Food? Hands down Red Cabbage! Best Prices? Again The Red Cabbage! Unique decor? Again The Cabbage!

tell us what you really think, Stewbear
:-)
just kidding

I just think it strange that the only way this person can brag up his/her café is to knock the Red Cabbage in comparison. The Cabbage has won the praise of Bonn Appetite as well high end travel books & budget travel mags, But for some reason this person has a burr under their saddle about it!

Yes, I understand and myself have been a 'Cabbage' fan for years. Interestingly I've noticed a similar thing happens over on Trip Advisor, whenever The Red Cabbage is favorably mentioned, (edgar I think it is has a fit) but do not think it is the same poster as here.

Little_Man May 23rd, 2006 03:53 PM

wow, I'm definitely hitting Red Cabbage on my next PV trip!

butsey May 24th, 2006 06:49 AM

Wow Can't believe I haven't hit this restaurant. Where is it located and what kind of food do they have? Can't believe I was never there in 17yrs!!!!

cabron May 24th, 2006 07:11 AM

Well, I live here and I've eaten at both, have you ?
Surely I'm allowed to give my opinion ?

Stewbear May 24th, 2006 07:28 AM

Yes I Have eaten at both Cabron. What I object to is why you feel it is necessary to knock one café to promote another. Having eaten at both frankly I find The Cabbage vastly superior but I believe in positive comments which for some reason you seem to have a problem with. But as The Cabbage normally has lines out the door I seriously doubt you are going to do Ms. Bravo's reputation as having "THE BEST CAFÉ IN PV" any damage!

suze May 24th, 2006 09:11 AM

butsey- they serve interesting Mexican recipes. it is located in the Remance district (inland on the southside) at Calle del Rio 204a.

If you happen to know Los Arbolitos' location, it's right down the street from there.

cabron May 25th, 2006 06:34 AM

"why you feel it is necessary to knock one café to promote another. "
Hmm, don't see anywhere in my post, where I 'knocked' anyone.
I don't understand your comment, sorry.

Stewbear - why so defensive over The Red Cabbage? Does your mother own it? : )

Seriously, I didn't see any trashing or knocking of it in Cabron's post. He simply stated thet another restaurant (which is also highly rated) has a bigger menu and more tables. That's just a fact (whether it is true or not, I don't know). There may be some people who like a larger selection of entrees for whatever reason.

And he didn't even say to take Red Cabbage off the list. He merely stated that the poster may want to add El Arrayan to the list.
