One more hint... if you have a "seaview" and you are not directly on the beach that means there will be hills or stairs involved.

Oh here's one more hotel suggestion, this one's in El Centro and not close to the beach but does have the view and kitchen you are seeking:

Doing a ttt to this one then it won't sink without trace. In the process of organising flights (some from UK) and an apartment. Thanks for all the help; almost too much choice.

If you get it narrowed down to a short-list of places, I am happy to tell you the pros and cons of those I know about (different parts of town, etc.).

Have just e mailed Casa Andrea as it seems to check all my boxes! Waiting to see what their rates are. And you recommended it. This trip has suddenly become a bit fluid as other friends suddenly like the idea of getting away from cold rainy London for a week in the sun.

Suze, I have had a nice e mail from Casa Dulce Vida. The only thing I can't work out is the location of the place. Can you help? It looks great and they have apartments available for the dates and prices I am looking for

suze Sep 30th, 2008 01:47 PM

It's in El Centro (downtown), near the church (with the crown on the top) according to the website.

I've never seen it in person but it looks like a nice place to me on the website.

Hard to tell if stairs or hills are involved (appears to sit up and behind the church from that one picture).

It is further from the beach than Casa Andrea if that's important to you.

You can find very good street maps on www.vallartainfo.com website to help you get your bearing.

Thanks Suze. The location looks OK. Stairs/hills are not a problem. It gets very good reviews on Tripadvisor. They are asking for a 50% deposit to book: is this normal?

suze Sep 30th, 2008 03:48 PM

No, not at the places I've stayed but each one is different (when you get away from the big resorts) and Dulce Vida does get good comments.

Hey Chris Did you have any luck w/the email address I sent you for the Sheraton. I usually rent a 2Br 2Ba so I am familiar I always ask for the same condo, this time though I am getting a 1Br 1Ba let me know if you get what you want. I have read that 1488 is an Oceanview if that helps I don't know myself just read about it on this site. Good Luck

BeniciaChris Oct 29th, 2008 07:38 PM

Hi back-I wrote them but I did not hear back. I will try again. I have a confirmation for November 29th-Dec6th. Then we are going to my resort in Nuevo-the Myan Palace. Can't wait-Thanks

BeniciaChris Nov 6th, 2008 02:34 PM

I just posted my 3rd E-mail to them. Maybe because I'm comming in on a timeshare trade-it is NOT their department. Thanks again for your help-a little over three weeks & we're there-Chris

butsey Nov 7th, 2008 11:01 AM

Lucky you Don't worry everything will be fine. Go and enjoy and if you need any recommendations for restaurants I would be glad to help

BeniciaChris Nov 8th, 2008 01:30 PM

butsey-Well they finally got back to me after I said 3rd E-mail. They said to move to a 2 bedroom it would be 852$ more. Does that sound fair?? I don't know. I have a 1 bedroom & its about 700sq ft. I usually sleep on the sofa bed & give my friend the bedroom. What do you think??
We have been to PV quite a few times but it has been 4 years-I always like Portabellas at the Marina. I have printed up some restaurant reviews but I always take suggestions. Three weeks from today & we are GONE-can't wait. Thanks Chris
