Puerto Vallarta Food Recommendations

Hello everyone,

Does anyone have any recommendations regarding certain dishes I should try while I'm in PV. Not necessarily any particular restaurant, but is PV known for any local specialties that are hard to find anywhere else.

Thanks in advance.

No local specialties, except maybe the 'pie de coco' on Yelapa beach.
The Red Cabbage Cafe serves some interesting traditional dishes.

Not specific to PV but great around town - carne asada tacos from street stands; corn on the cob or in a cup, again from vendors; fresh orange, carrot or grapefruit juice; banana pancakes; grilled fish; fruit plates; shrimp cocktails; fresh muffins from strolling vendors on the local beach.

Try Planeto Vegetariano for a unique and cheap all you can eat lunch. I think it was about $5 US. It's on a hill near the church.

Try the fresh salsa and anything even remotely related to seafood (fish, shrimp, squid, octopus, etc.)

Also try Molletas Mexicanos for breakfast at Las Palomas.
