Puerto Vallarta, Club Viva Vallarta

My wife and I will be going to PV in May and are thinking of staying at Club Viva Vallarta. I would appreciate hearing anyone's thoughts on this property, and also on excursions you would suggest. We love to snorkel.

Thanks in advance.

Gary

I love to snorkel too... but unfortunately, I found the snorkeling in PV to be rather poor. Los Arcos was murky with strong tides. The Marietas Islands were decent. The water was much calmer, and there were many large, interesting fish... but again, the water is murky. In either case, you need to go on a boat. I did not find even mediocre snorkeling off any beach.

We stayed ther 6 yrs. ago with our kids and enjoyed it. Large resort, friendly staff, nice grounds. Large and pretty pool. Lots of families. Food was good, beach great. Good loc. You will like it I am sure. I personally prefer smaller hotels, but this one was good for families with kids. Condo type units there. If I returned to PV w/out the kids, I would stay in the old town s. of the river

I stayed there two years ago and I am going back again at the end of April-beginning of May. It has everything you could want. If you have a family, they have family activities. For the adults, they have an adults only, quiet pool where everyone sort of just soaks, suntans and enjoys the fruity drinks while looking out on the ocean. The only down side is that it is a ways from Puerto Vallarta and is secluded but that is also a good thing. As for excursions, I'm not sure if they run it in May but the whale watching excursion is breath taking! My husband and I thought that it was the highlight of our trip. I hope that you have a great time! The people at this resort are very friendly, the food is great and it is very clean! You should like it! Like I said, we're going back.
