Puerto Vallarta Best Beach Hotel?

My girl friend and I are planning a trip to Puerto Vallarta.
I am hoping to get some advice on some nice hotels that are on a beach good for swimming. It would be helpful to know how far they are from town and if they are AI or not.

Thanks for your help.

Can you give us a little more info on what constitutes "nice hotel" for you? Budget constraints? Do you like huge resort type places, or do you prefer quieter, upscale places?

Have fun!

Mark,

Price is not an issue, but I like a place that is attractive and aesthetically pleasing.

Dreams, which used to be the Camino Real Hotel, is on the Best beach in PV. It's got a great spot. It's an AI, so don't know how it is now, but as the Camino Real, it was wonderful.

Check trip advisor for reviews...

I love the busy main downtown beach of Playa Los Muertos but the hotels there are all of a simple variety. It is walking distance to everything, right in town.

The "nice" hotels and resorts are located in The Marina (15 mins. from town) or Nuevo Vallarta (1 hour from town) to the north.

There are AI and non-AI places available in all locations.

There are a few individual resorts to the south like Dreams (as mentioned above) or at Jolla de Mismaloya.

If you don't have one yet, a map of PV and how it lays out around the Bay of Banderas will be extremely helpful to you.

Have to agree w/Frankie Dreams the former Camino Real has the best beach, it's private and it is really nice also you can go into the ocean to swim, most other places the beach is grainy and the ocean is rough this is the best spot, however I can't say anything about the hotel I have not been since new ownership check w/trip advisor .com there are many reports on this hotel as well as others, we are going to the Marriott in April their pool overlooks the ocean there, if only a hotel had the beach that Dreams does and is close to town that would the only place everyone would go to, but there isn't anything like that so compromise is needed. If I can be of any help plese don't hesitate jrota @phillynews.com

One more thing Dreams is all inclusive but I don't recommend it, P.V has so many restaurants you would be missing out if you didn't go out to dinner to the many different locations I could recommend. Good Luck
