Puerto Vallarta Beaches

Hello-

We have stayed in Nuevo last year and are looking at staying at the Canto Del Sol(formerley Continental Plaza).I had heard the beaches were not the good in PV and we have 3 kids who love to Boogie Board. Can any one pass on any comments about the beaches? I had heard they were quite rocky and hardly any surf

thanks

Dave

You heard right the beaches are not good in fact the surf I think is too rough for kids, however the beach at Camino Real is the best beach I have seen in Puerto Vallarta (have never been to Nuevo) the beach at Camino Real is smooth and the water was much calmer spent all our time on the beach instead of the pool. Good Luck

Do you know where the Canto del sol is in relation to the Camino Real?

Canto Del Sol is in the hotel zone, north of downtown. Camino Real is south of downtown. The reason Camino beach is so good is that it is on a "private" cove all to itself. You have to go through the hotel to get to the beach. Someone else could tell you if they would welcome you on their beach or not if you are not staying there. Not sure.

I think it would be very hard to get on the beach at the Camino Real unless you were staying there.

Get someone at the pier to take you just south of PV to the beach at Majahuitas. We stayed at a casita there and swam in the ocean every day. The casitas are on private property, but the beach is public and people come there all the time to swim and snorkel. The water there is absolutely gorgeous, not at all rocky AND swimmable.
