Puerto Vallarta airport shuttle
Six adults need ride from PVR airport to hotel. Does anyone have experience using a shuttle? We want to stop at Walmart on the way to hotel.

I guess you could take a shuttle to Walmart but it's not going to wait for you. A shuttle by definition is a any body going that way gets on vehicle. Then you would 1. need two cabs to your hotel for six w/bags. 2. Have someone watch your luggage at Walmart. I'd go check in to my residence then do your shopping unless you are staying WAY out then I'd bit the bullet getting a private van.
PS When I go alone I buy a shuttle ticket but invariably end up with a private cab as I stay way off the beaten path. |
As above, unless you are staying somewhere way out of town... I'd go directly to your hotel, drop your luggage, and send a couple people back out for groceries.
Or from the airport send 4 people with all luggage direct to the hotel, and 2 people in a taxi to the Walmart. I don't think 6 people + airport shuttle + waiting at Walmart is going to work for you, but I could be wrong. |
I would listen to Stewbear and Suze they are right on the money. Go to your hotel and then go shopping. There are numerous large stores for shopping all over P.V. in fact I have never even been to Walmart in all the years I 've been going. We go to the nearest supermarket. You can always get a bus to Walmart wherever you are staying. Good Luck

Agree with others. The last thing I want to do when arriving in PV is head to WalMart. What is it you need to buy?
|
go to hotel, visit wal mart later.
|
There is a Wal-Mart in Puerto Vallarta? Ugh!
|
Yup Tom there is. BTW, local people are happy to have it.
|
Sorry Suze what is BTW ?????
|
By The Way
(sorry Butsey, i have lapsed into internet slang!) |
ok Suze you got one on me.
|
Yeah, Suze, I guess they are no different than people in the US in that regard. Personally, I dislike them (although I must admit that I have shopped there for convenience on a few occasions). BTW, I am currently researching restaurants for my April trip to PV and am looking forward to your feedback once I get my list together.
|
Well I've never been in a Wal-Mart myself actually!
My comment was because people often seem surprised or dissapointed by things in PV that are modern or "Americanized". I think it's worth remembering that what is an eyesore on your vacation as a tourist is a helpful everyday resource to people who live there (mexican or ex-pat). Enough of my lecture ;-) and always happy to help with the restaurants, etc. |
broder, Maybe you'll post after your trip and let us know what worked best for you. Always looking for good ideas.

Nobody wants to shop with luggage so ditto all above. HOWEVER, I have asked for a cab to wait while I shopped at MEGA. So it's a possibility. Next to Wal-Mart is SAMS. If you are going to be staying in the Hotel Zone by any chance, you can shop easily at "Gigante." It is priced comparable to Wal-Mart, has wider isles and is cleaner. Riding the bus is fun and so easy to do in PV and they all go to the above big stores.
