Puerta Vallarta Restaurants

We are planning a trip to PV at the end of January...I am in charge of dinner reservations. We like all types of food and prefer upper scale dining - especially seafood. We are from small midwest city sorely lacking in fine dining.
Also need suggestions for fun places to have lunch. Thanks j

My favorite for upscale dining is Cafe de Artiste, but I heard they are making some changes this year. A little less "upscale" but beautiful setting on the ocean with great food and service is Daquiri Dicks. Also good are Le Bistro and Trio. There are many less expensive places than this that you can get great food, but these would be my favorite "nice" places.

Thank you for your help...looking forward to our first visit to PV.

Been to PV many times and find a wonderful new restaurant each time. Last time (10/03) our cab driver reccommended his favorite place, "El Palomar de los Gonzales" and I would reccommend it to. A lovely place with patio dining overlooking the sparkling lights of the city.

Depends on what part of town you're in and where you want to have dinner (downtown/El Centro?). If you're staying in Nuevo Vallarta, then the taxi to town is a bit of a ride (but cheap and easily do-able)...

When you get into town pick up a copy of "Vallarta Lifestyles" magazine which has reviews & ads for nice places to eat. Also the English-language newspaper. There's a Tourist office downtown kitty-corner from the cathedral.

Thanks - we are renting a villa in the southern part of town, but we will also be renting a car so destination is not really a problem.
Any recommendations for massage & facial? Has anyone had any experience with Terra Noble?

At a hotel like the Westin Regina, can we expect spa prices to be the same or lower than a comparable spa in USA? Facials, messages, etc.

Taxi driver recommend places that give them a kickback, not because they have ever eaten there.

Check out vallartavoice.com and click on Readers Choice 2003- last year's restaurant winners. PV has excellent "upscale" dining so you will surely enjoy.

We really enjoyed Los Milagros- upscale, delicious Mexican food - and Red Cabbage Cafe which is an experience.

I agree re: cab drivers- they recommend only bec someone will give them a tip for it.

Several of my friends have suggested El Palomar and they did not get a kickback: they thought it was very good, especially for the price.

Any thoughts on Bianco and Z Tomato?
