Public transportation SJD into Cabo
Are there public buses or similar transits from the airport to downtown area? We are staying at The Bungalows. What would a taxi cost for 2?
Thanks~ |
You need to book a shuttle, shared or private or rent a car. Last year I booked through Cabo San Lucas Tours. They use Trans Cabo. I have also used Cape Travel. With just 2, we have done shared shuttles.
http://www.cabosanlucastours.net/Air...sportation.htm In case you have not been warned, the airport is a minefield of timeshare sharks. Do not speak to anyone. They will say they are with the company to pick you up etc. Not so. Just keep walking out side for your shuttle company sign. Anyone extra eager to help you is probably a timeshare shark. |
I used the company in the link above. I booked online in advance. Worked like a charm. Mine was a shared shuttle but we only made a couple stops before mine along the way.
The thing to realize about arriving Los Cabos is the airport is 29 miles from downtown CSL, so just hopping a taxi isn't very cost effective (like it is arriving PV for example). I think it's something like $70(?) |
I can rent a car for $20 for the entire 5 days; I may do that as Bungalows has free parking and it would allow us to get to a couple of further away beaches or towns.
Is there anything I need to know about renting in Cabo? |
I don't think that sounds right. Are you SURE about the price?
There are loads of add-ons and additional insurance needed for Mexico. Often rental companies aren't up front about the actual final total cost. |
Are you also reading and posting over on the Trip Advisor Cabo San Lucas forum? There's a really good group of people who can help you out there.
|
The rate is correct. It is on Dollar Website. With tax and fees it's $27. Apr 19 - 24
|
It does not include Mexican auto insurance. I need to see how much that is...
|
You do (need to find out the real and total price). I'm pretty darn sure you can't rent a car in Mexico for $20USD for 5 days.
|
DebitNM, I'm saying what I'm saying from reading a decade of posts on Trip Advisor on the subject. Both for PV, Mayan Riviera, and the Baja.
Newbies always think they have a cheap deal, but it never turns out that way. You also need to be careful about which agency you use, because some are known for scamming (trying to charge you for damage that was previously there, etc.). |
I just got back from Cabo about 3 weeks ago. The guys always want a car so we rented a full size for the 4 of us. About $44/day, all insurance required. The cheapest was about $34/day for an economy car 4 years ago. I use Cactus Car, asking for the Trip advisor rate, all required insurance.
|
You best check your prices are there is something wrong with your quote...
|
The quote doesn't include insurance; and that makes up for the big difference in price.
For $44 a day, we'll stick with original plan of shuttle. I got lulled in by the $20 charge for 5 days. If it seems to good to be true.... |
That's right ;-) I felt bad to burst your bubble but had read too many previous posts like it, and it never turned out to be a true total price. It's not exactly a bate & switch, but pretty darn close.

suze, not to worry, that is why I asked.
