Progreso, Yucatàn
We've booked ourselves a week in Progreso, Yucatàn. Feb 21st through March 1st.
What must-do activities so you recommend for four friends in their young mid-thirties? |
I recommend consulting the Moon Guide or the Rough Guide.
|
Will do.
Thanks @kja! |
Merida is quite close and is an interesting city, and the Uxmal ruins and Ruta Puuc ruins, haciendas and missions are also reachable.

Hello Misskitty, There's so much to do for day trips from Progreso. What sorts of things do you like to do? Beach, adventure, city, culter etc?
|
We're there for seven full days & will be spending our last two nights in Mérida proper (our flight leaves at 7:30am on morning of March 1st, so it seemed easiest).
We're mostly coming to laze on the beach & unwind, but we think it would be a waste to come all the way w/out exploring at least a bit. Probably one history/ruins excursion, one adventure-type thing, & exploring Mérida proper on our last day. A friend recently took a cruise w/ a stop in Progreso, & thoroughly enjoyed a day of dune buggying to a place w/ pink water! I think that sounds like a ton of fun, but I haven't been able to find anything like it online? |
Hopefully the norte winds will have calmed down and the beach/water will be ok by the time you get to Progreso.
Here's a few events to look at. Take a look and let me know if you'd like me to expand. Enjoy your stay. Here's a few links to get you started; http://yucatanexpatlife.com/calendar/ http://www.yucatanliving.com/ http://yucatantoday.com/events/?lang=en |
