Priorities In Costa Rica

If you had 16 days in Costa Rica, what sites, locations would you be sure to include? We'll probably be driving. Is it worth it to drive to Corcovado, after seeing Arenal area, and San Jose? We are 2 parents with 2 sons,19 yrs. & 13 yrs., and in pretty good shape. Would it be worth it to drive all the way to Corcovado after being north?

If you want to see REAL wilderness and virgin rainforest, you will have to go south, that is where it is!
16 days is enough time to do many things. The driving is slow in Costa Rica but much of what you would be driving is on the Pan American Hghway, which isn't bad at all!
If you came from Arenal and all the way down to San Ysidro and over to the coast, the road is good all the way to Uvita and perhaps beyond. So it wouldn't be as grueling as going somewhere on rural highways most of the way.
Best wishes!
Robbie
With 16 days, no way I'd miss Corcovado, or even Cabo Matapalo which is a little eaiser to get to.
It just does not get any better than that for seclusion and wildlife!

Its just not that big a country. You can drive from Sierpe (portal to west side of Corcovado)to San Jose in only 5 hours. On the way, spend time in the Sierra del Muerte cloudforest (much less crowded than Monteverde).
