It all depends on what kind of restaurants you are planning to go to. On the average I would say for eating a nice restaurants compared to the States and drinking a few drinks a day I have to say it costs my husband and myself with tips about $200 a day for 2 people.

hi, a lot of the hotels we go to have a nice breakfast buffet; we'll go to that and then we won't need lunch, maybe some snacks at the beach, then out to dinner. So that'd be about $40 for breakfast, $30 for midday snacks, maybe anywhere from 50-100 for dinner depending on what kind of restaurant you'd like to eat at. So, for us, anywhere from $125-175 per day. And you can do it less expensively by eating where the locals eat, getting your breakfast at a bakery, etc. It's fun to be a little more adventurous, and get some real good food...

I spent on the average of $25 USD per day on a recent 36 day Mexican holiday. This does not include housing except for three nights in Morelia. It does include all other expenses. Now keep in mind I Do Not Drink so I save lots there. Also I avoid eating for the most part in tourist areas.

In Playa Del Carmen, Akumal, and Tulum, one can eat quite well for about $35 a day unless you go to very upscale restaurants. Meals are generally a little less than in the US, and we were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food at most places.
