Pollution in Mexico City

I'd like to visit Mexico City but I'm concerned about the air quality. I've read that it is better in the summer but can't find any historical averages. The only site I've found displays real time AQI: http://aqicn.org/map/mexicocity/

What have people noticed while there? Has anyone noticed that is better in certain months of the year? I'm specifically interested in what people noticed about pollution in March, June, July, and August as well as if there other times I should consider for the best chance of decent air quality.

The rainy months from mid-June through September should be your better bets for cleaner air.

We were in Mexico City last March and besides the cold nights, we could actually see the pollution on certain days... That said, it most certainly did not deter our time in this most amazing city. With soooo much to see and do, the pollution took a back seat to our amazement and appreciation of such a beautiful and friendly environment....

Thanks, Rohelio and Baldone that pretty much confirms what I've heard.

JuliaSchmitz, when I was in Havana in June '16 pollution was a problem in the city but didn't bother me outside the city. How much of a problem it is for you will probably depend on individual physiology, activity level, and the duration of your trip. Still, Cuba is wonderful place to visit!
