Please include country in your title

Many of us browse the entire Latin America board (without selecting a country) because we're interested in more than one country. But without the country in the title, there's no way to have any idea what the thread is about. Please make it easier on those of us who browse the entire board at once.
(I wish Fodor's would insert the country at the beginning of the message title if a poster chooses a country. Hint, hint, Fodors!) Thanks, all.

Amen!

Sometimes I think the Latin America board has become the Costa Rica board. I'm not complaining just observing.

Yeah, it irritates me when people just say something in their subject line like, "Itinerary help, please" but don't name a country. This forum seems about 60% Costa Rica and 15% each Argentina and Peru. I must not hate it too much, though - I read through everyday. :-)

Excellent suggestion!! Thanks.

Great idea!

This is fighting a losing battle. I have given up and try not to open posts with unreasonable titles. ((*))

Agreeing totally to this one! When I was searching for this subject today, I saw a post directly below it titled "Tour Guide"! You have to wonder were they looking for a tour guide for a round trip to all of Latin America?

But I do believe for those that post and select a country, they most likely think it will show up under that country instead of all of Latin America.

Which brings me to selecting an interest. Some do not and state that they look at the Whole Latin America forum and not any one particular country. However, for those of us searching for say a less traveled destination such as Belize, Nicaraugua, Guatemala, etc. It makes it difficult to find.

SO on top of putting the country in the title, I also wish people would select a country. I actually wish you had to (Fordor's Hint!)

And, you know CR does take up a bunch of this forum. Maybe it would make sense to seperate Central and South America into two forums.

Oh no, please, bad idea... don't separate anything. The Latin America branch is slow enough as it is. When you divide things into even smaller parts then you'll get even LESS traffic and participation.

Sure, putting the country in the title is an good suggestion, but it's not like there are all so many posts to pour thru here. I don't think there's usually even 50 topped or started new in a day. Easy enough to skip all the Costa Rica ones, or whatever, if that's your choice.

althom1122 Apr 29th, 2008 03:02 PM

Suze - that's my point: it's not easy enough to skip the Costa Rica ones if Costa Rica isn't in the title - you have to open them to know. You're right that there aren't that many posts here per day, but I read four of the Fodor's boards (and love them all!), not just the Latin America one, so it does get to be a bit much to filter through. I find the Latin America board the worst in terms of people not entering the country name, so I thought I'd post the suggestion here. It's just that, a suggestion - I suspect it's something that many people just haven't thought about.
