Playa- things you MUST do?
We are traveling to the Playa del Carmen area in January. Does anyone have any recommendations for things that are a MUST see? Restaurants? Also, what is most reliable/safe mode of transportation if we are staying 20 minutes from the center of town?
Any help appreciated :) |
Thursday or Saturday 4-9PM, Bad Boyz on the beach for live music.
A day either at Tulum beach or Xpu Ha beach. Lunch at el Pirate on the beach and Dinner at Mannies (there are tons of other must eat restaurants!) Saturday dog wash at Peanut Pet Shelter with Andy and Jen: http://www.playa.info/playa-del-carm...el-carmen.html I go several times a year and these things I do almost every time. There are a lot of other activities that are well worth doing especially if you are coming for the first time. Things like Mayan ruins, snorkle trips and zip line tours are popular for good reason. I think your challenge may be to narrow your choices! Cabs are cheap, reliable and safe for transport between Playacar and PDC. For destinations outside Playa I go either on the ADO bus or collectivos. |
Go to Excaret. It has a ton of things to do and see. Stay for the night show.

Well, it depends on what your interests are. If you're into architecture, culture, or history, Chichen Itza is probably a must. If you're into water activities, then there are plenty of snorkeling and scuba opportunities. We had a great time at Xcaret.
