Playa del Sol Los Cabos
 

This is our 1st trip to Los Cabos, so I have some questions. We purposely wanted to be closer to Los Cabos rather than Cabo. We got a great deal of $350 for the week at Playa del Sol Los Cabos starting Oct.27th. The Playa del Sol website says this is a new property. The timeshare website says it is recently renovated. It is next to the WorldMark at Coral Baja. Has anyone ever stayed here and what do you think? How is the weather at the end of October. And of course, restaurants...good ones in the hotel and it says it is close to the town, so good, casual (inexpensive) restaurants in Los Cabos. We will be there for Day of the Dead...not sure what that entails !!

Cabo is part of Los Cabos (&quot;The Capes&quot;) ... Los Cabos simply refers to the entire area with seven different capes. You lodging is probably outside San Jose del Cabo.

Worst case a fast moving late season hurricane, but usually temps have mellowed out a bit by mid-Oct and it's sunny and temperate so you should be OK. A good time to go, you got a really rate for Oct, which is when the big money fishing tournaments are held.

Los Cabos is not noted for celebrating traditional Mexican rituals :)

Thanks Bill for the information. As I said, this is our 1st time there. Last year we went to Puerto Vallera in February and loved it ! We just decided to try some place else and the price was too good to resist.

Anyone familiar with the resort itself?

According to Orbitz, this hotel is just outside San Jose del Cabo--not near Cabo San Lucas (which may be a GOOD thing). If you wanted to party--you would want to be closer to CSL (which, IMHO) is Las Vegas with a beach. San Jose del Cabo will give you a LITTLE more of a feel of Mexico. While there won't be any big Day of the Dead celebrations as elsewhere in Mexico, you might luck into something be checking with the church.

We were down in Cabo last year for the last week in October and stayed at the Coral Baja. The weather was very humid, but the A/C in the unit and the pool made it all worth it. We never made it over to Playa del Sol, but it should be ok if it was renovated. We just missed a hurricane and lots of rain. The upside is the desert was greened up and flowers blooming like crazy. There was also some sort of butterfly migration: they were everywhere and beautiful.

The big marlin tournament: the Bizbee was postponed because of the hurricane, so we got to see the big catch one day:
450 pounds of fish!!
