Has anyone ever rented a house or condo in playa del carmen?

Yes.

We are doing it for the 1st time this December. We're (family of 4 - 2 teens) staying at the Xaman-Ha condos. I chose thise becasue I wanted a complex with a pool, on the beach and short walk into town. Xaman Ha meets are those requiremetns and not many others do.

Thanks for the info on the condos. This is for a trip for my husband and I. We enjoy renting vs a hotel. We like to being active, but also lay by the water iwth a drink every once in a while! Any other tips/recommendations would be helpful!

There are many condos for rent in PDC. You could look at Villas Sacbe, Natz Ti Ha, and Royal Palms just to name a few. If you do a search on some of the PDC sites you can find a lot of info.
