Playa del Carmen or Los Cabos

Planning to travel with another family. We will have three 18 year olds and a 20 year old plus us 50 something parents. Like great beaches, great little places to eat, shopping and some touring. Which would you pick of the two and where might you stay. Thinking all inclusive might be easier. Hope to go third week of March. Thanks.

I'd pick PDC for the beaches, great restaurants that won't break the bank, cool shops - a fun town with an European feel. Plus you'll be near Mayan Ruins, natural waterparks, jungle. Look into Playa Maya Hotel centrally located in town on the beach. Oh...sorry...you want an AI? There are many, but I wouldn't reccommend it in Playa with all the great restaurants to eat at. Look into playadelcarmeninfo.com

Cabo has rough, cold water; and desert. And from what I hear, things are expensive there such as going out to eat.

Agree w/ Pepper. The kids will really enjoy PDC!

Playa del Carmen (actually I'd pick Puerto Vallarta) only because I hear so many negative reports on Cabo, and consistent postive experiences in the other two destinations.

I'm with Pepper too, head to PDC but don't book an AI, there are so many fabulous restaurants and if you head out on excursions during the day, you will be eating lunch somewhere else and maybe even breakfast. Check out www.playdelcarmeninfo.com and check the boards for dining suggestions.

We were there in December, a couple of excellent daytrips are heading over to Cozumel via ferry for some snorkeling and the one we did with Alltournative that went to Coba and a Mayan Village where we rappeled, canoed and went over a lake with a zipline. Excellent tour!

Chichen Itza is also doable but a long daytrip and you can do Tulum and Xelha on a combined trip, we went via colectivo but you can also do a tour.

Thanks. I'll start looking into this. May also check PV as a possible other option.
