Playa Del Carmen...is it safe to have a drink??
 

We are going to be staying at a resort that is 5 minutes away from Playa Del Carmen next week. I have heard good things about the town and we plan on visiting it. I was also told by a few people not to drink any mixed drinks at the local bars only drink bottled water or beer. They all said that they didn't get sick until they went to PDC and had a mixed drink. Has anyone else had this happen to them...should I only drink bottled water and beer while visiting there??

We were in PDC last month, stayed in town at a small hotel. We did use bottled water while at the hotel, but drank mixed drinks downtown. Neither of us got sick.

We've been to PDC many times and have never had a problem with either food or drink.<BR>

Don't worry, I would say all the places in Playa serve their mixed drinks with purified ice. I would also say this, your chances are just as great of getting sick with a mixed drink at the resort you will be staying at. Please don't worry about it.

I agree with the above posters. I've been to PDC 3 times in the past 2 years, have drank at several places in town and never got sick.<BR>Have a great trip!

Hola...<BR><BR>I agree with the others, except I DID get sick the last time at PDC but, not from a drink in town. I got gassed the night we arrived and, best I can tell, it was from a glass at the bar at the resort!<BR><BR>I never made it to town. <BR><BR>The rest of our group made it to town several times and nobody caught as much as a cough.<BR><BR>lucky me...<BR><BR>justjohn<BR>
