We (6 adults and 5 kids) plan to spend a week in Playa for a week next Thanksgiving. We want to be on the beach or very close in a house.Any recommendations for a location or place?

Playacar, located at the southern end of Playa, is good place to stay. It's a quiet residential area with some resorts along the beach and a golf course.

You say "in a house". Are you looking to rent a house or a condo or do you want a resort?
The Playacar area is wonderful and right next to the town of Playa del Carmen.
