Planning Mexico by February

Hi,
just tried to get some plane ticket prices for anywhere in Mexico in December,
Are there better time to go before end of February when prices are cheaper?
Thanks

Not really. You are looking at high season prices. You might try looking from different departure points if you have that option, look for charter airline deals, shop package deals from tour companies like Apple Vacations, try different days of the week, use the flexible date search on some airline sights, consider flexible arrival cities such as Cancun instead of Cozumel, look for connecting flights instead of non-stop. These are a few ways to save a little money, but you really are looking at high season.

Check out Volaris. They often have some really good special fares, depending on your departure city which you don't mention.

Airfare around Christmas/New Years is always tricky.

That said, I fly Seattle to Puerto Vallarta often and always pay about the same price for a plane ticket. Mid-January is a quiet time in PV, for example, but I'm not sure plane fares would be any lower.

I'm sure it's high during the holidays, but it shouldn't be higher in early December, but that's kind of over. It's kind of late to be booking airfare for December and getting bargains.

Maybe you have unrealistic ideas about air fare.

Cancun will be cheapest, I wouldn't even think of flying into Cozumel. And you can get nonstop flights to Cancun. I see nonstops to/from Cancun for $600 if you fly on the holidays, which is often cheaper (ie, 12/25 and 1/1). But it's only $474 if you go dec 18 and return 12/25 (and that's US Air). If you return 12/24, it goes up to over $600, because people don't like flying on holidays.

If you go Jan 6th for a week, it's about $500.

Really, that is a pretty cheap fare to/from Mexico from PHL. You are not going to get that for a couple hundred dollars, if that's what you're thinking.

YOu can do it for only $435 on American if you are willing to change in MIA (I wouldn't) for Jan 21st-28th dates, for example.

You can get to Cancun for under $400.

Mexico City, which is far more interesting than the beaches, usually has much less expensive fares. Also less expensive hotels and better food. From there you can bus to Puebla, Oaxaca, Guanajuato -- any number of fascinating destinations to vary your trip.

I love Mexico City, but there is a huge amount of interesting stuff to do within 100 miles of Cancun, and I'm not talking about the typical water parks or resorts or swim with dolphins experiences.

I know this thread says "anywhere" but her other post specifically requested at beach.

<Where is cheapest to fly from PHL where there is a beach before Early March?>

So don't think Mexico City or the colonial towns fit the bill.

Well then, I'd fly to Atlantic City.
