Plane Explodes in Sao Paulo Airport
 

I am very sad to report that a TAM airlines plane with 175 passengers and crew on board crashed this evening in São Paulo's Congonhas Airport. It slid pass the runway and crossed the avenue in front of the Airport to explode against a TAM airlines building. Though it is no confirmed, the images of the accident on TV (it is on CNN) leave little doubt as to the very small, almost nule, probability of survivals.

I was in Sao Paulo two months ago,so this hits close to home

hiya, it seems that the pilot tried to take off again at end of runway realising the plane wouldnt be able to stop in time, there is a steep slope down to that main road, but didnt manage to get enough height and so crashed into that building. Anxiously awaiting news as work with tourism in this country!

I am flying into São Paulo tomorrow. Good thing I changed my flight from Congonhas to Guarulhos. I talked to a close friend who was in the same flight yesterday. She is is shambles, as she almost postponed her reservations to today. I told her to go light a candle and thank all her protecting goddesses!

They just confirmed the death of more than 200 people, including those who were in the building that was hit. Very, very sad.
