Place recommendation?
Hello,
My wife and I want to spend 2 weeks in Central America, with our 3-year and 5-year old. Beach and swimming is a must. But we don't want it very touristy. More Robinson Crusoe like. Natural. Something like Belize (but we're looking for maybe a different country this time). Any suggestions? Thanks in advance, Steve |
Try Little Corn Island

Osa peninsula, Costa Rica.

With kids that age, I would go to Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica, but since you said you'd like something more wild and natural, I would agree with Cimbrone that you should check out the Osa Peninsula. We loved Bosque del Cabo, but there are other spots with easier beach access.

If you really want Robinson Crusoe, I don't think you can beat Glover's Atoll Resort 40 miles off the coast of Belize: http://www.glovers.com.bz/
It's not for everyone (it's very nonresort, no electricity or running water) but the diving and snorkeling from shore is world class. We had a blast there in 2003 and are heading back this summer. Our photo and travelogue collections are linked below if you want to check them out. Keep us posted! http://www.flickr.com/photos/staceyholeman/collections |
Check out Casa Bambu on the Osa Peninsula.
You requested Central American, but Tortola, British Virgin Islands would also be a good choice as you can ferry to nearby islands. Virgin Gorda is interesting. |
Try the San Blas Islands in Panama.
