Photos of Buenos Aires and Iguazu Falls

You're welcome. The hardest part was thinning out the hundreds of waterfall pictures (literally). It's hard to resist phtographing it frome every angle 2-3 times :-P! And also hard to ake a "bad" picture.

Wow, great pics. Especially love the Tigre pics, don't see much of those. Can't wait to get to see the falls in person, the Devil's Throat pics are amazing. The capybara's are adorable, and why is the wolf spider dangerous?

Yeah - the spiders kind of freak a lot of people out. I must be wierd since I thought they were cool.
Upon further review, I think the wolf spider is not "dangerous" in the sense it will kill you . The caution was that it was easy to step close to one if you weren't watching since they tend to be along the edge of the trail. And if they are startled they will bite which can cause swelling, some pain, and itching. xyz99 - it's hard to say which side is "better". Devil's Throat is definitely the most impressive and powerful part of the falls and it is on the Brazil side. However, the long boardwalk crossing the river and going out to the edge of Devil's Throat is on the Argentina side. That's why I think you have to go to both sides to truly see it all. I generally felt that where I was at the time was the best so it kept changing :-P! Probably the least "impressive" walk was the upper circuit, but I'm glad I did it since it was cool to be walking along the top of the various falls. Glad you are all enjoying the pics! |
Hey, nice pics, i was just on a similar holiday too and visited Buenos Aires and Iguazu Falls...Your pic's are awesome...You are lucky to have seen all those birds.. And spiders, we did not see those at all!!

Other than the Devil's Throat,some of the Falls look a bit "skimpy". They are not having another dry Season are they !?? I know in early August 2006, the amount of water flow was reduce due to a severe drought. When I was there last year I was told the Falls were up to about 90 % of their capacity. avrooster ,.... have you heard anything about the Falls having a reduced amount of water.!? Great pictures anyway, I am just asking about the water conditions in the area. Percy |
Percy: as you well say, in our winter of 2006 the water flow was reduced, due to a drought in Brazil.
There was a lot of talk about it, at the time. I have heard no such comments at this time. I'll see if our helpful travel agent ("milla") is aware of such a situation. |

Our guide at the Yacutinga Lodge did say that the water levels were down. When we took a boat ride on the Rio San Francisco they actually had to get out and pull the boat along a couple of times. And our guide to the Brazil side also said that the level was down and that some of the areas would have more solid water going over. All I know is that if that was what it was like when the water level is down, they must be overwhelmingly impressive when the water level is more "normal".
