Photos: Nicaragua (mostly Granada)

I visited Nicaragua in March 2008, but I forgot to post the photo link. My trip was over a long weekend, so I saw very little of the country, but I liked that little very much, especially Granada, which ranks with Antigua, Guatemala; Copan, Honduras; and Suchitoto, El Salvador as top, Central American colonial towns.

My basic itinerary was Managua and Granada, relying on public transport. From Managau I took a public minibus (from the UCA stand) to Granada (US$1.00) and a tourist minibus from Granada back to the airport ($15).

Great pics! Where were all of the people? Nice pictures in a way b/c no one was in them...also seemed strange to not see any people....does that make sense? :) I loved them thanks!

Thanks for posting. We are going to Nicaragua in November so seeing your photos got me anxious for vacation.

Parrmt is right in that it looks weird to have everywhere so empty, there were crowds everywhere during my visit.

Managua was empty, but Granada was very crowded. I make a concerted effort not to take photos with lots of people in them, so some of the photos were early in the morning; for others, I waited for the crowds to disperse. I have never asked anyone to move, but there are times when I have waited 10 or so minutes before taking a photo. If the people haven't moved, I'll move on and return later to take photos.
