Peru airlines: LAN vs STAR vs CONDOR

We will need three flights within Peru in March: Lima to Cusco; Cusco to Arequipa; and Arequipa to Lima.

If I pick and chose the flights based on price and schedule, I find us on all three of these airlines: Lan, Star and Condor. Lan is the only one that has a direct flight (with 1-stop) CUZ-AQP so we will probably use them for this flight, but Star and Condor are somewhat less expensive than Lan on the other two routes.

Is Lan worth the extra money in terms of service, safety or convenience?
:)

Our best flights in Peru were on LAN -- nice planes with leather seats, and good service.

Did you also use any of the other airlines I mention?

thanks

We flew Star from Lima to Arequipa. The flight was very late and the plane not nearly as nice as Lan. I remember sitting in the airport watching the Lan flights come and go and we were stuck. We were supposed to fly Condor from Cusco to Lima, but ended up cancelling while in Cusco due to the flight times. We ended up on Lan for that leg. When we booked in advance from the US, we picked the best times with best prices. In the end the flight we cancelled on Condor and the Lan flight were the same price once in Peru.
I loved Peru -- hope u have a great trip.

Lan is a lot nicer and more reputable than Condor.

Lan is the No.1 latin american airliner by far. All good things can be said about LAN. Excellent by any standart.

I would agree that LAN is much better. We had 6 internal flights with LAN and no problems at all. Now compared to Aireuropa in Europe, LAN is fantatic!!!!

How easy is it to book flights once you're in Peru? How far in advance you should book? Any price difference for last minute vs local booking?

We might consider flying from Cusco to Puno (Juliaca) for Lake Titicaca instead of taking the bus if there's not enough time for the long bus ride.

On that subject, is the bus route from Cusco to Puno very scenic that we should make time for it? The whole day?

Thanks.
