Peace Lodge Reservation

Has anyone had trouble making a reservation at the Peace Lodge? I've been trying for about a week without success. I initially contacted them through their website and received an email that someone would call me. That never happened. I've emailed several times since, but have gotten no response. I've also called the U.S. number and left a message because no one ever answers. I've also called the two Costa Rica numbers, but got a message that the calls couldn't go through. The numbers I've been trying are 954-727-3997 (U.S.), 011-506-225-0643 and 011-506-225-1082 (Costa Rica). Any suggestions? I haven't had any problems with any of the other reservations I've made.

OK all Costa Rican phone numbers changed a few weeks back. Many websites have not yet been changed. So I imagine it is causing a lot of stress for those trying to reach hotels.

See the following and dial 011-506-2225-0643 or 011-506-2225-1082

All phone numbers in Costa Rica go from seven to eight digits on March 20. This has been in the works for over a year, so it should go off without a hitch.

The new numbering system is pretty straightforward:

Place a 2 in front of all land line numbers (those presently beginning with 2, 4, 5, 6 or 7).

Place an 8 in front of all mobile numbers (those presently beginning with 3 or 8).

I had the same non-response from the email, but I called the US number and everything worked fine – they asked me to email the reservation request and by the fourth time, I finally got a response back.

Not the easiest way to make a reservation, but not that difficult either. I agree, for the price they are charging, the booking process should be flawless, but…it is what it is. After we finally made contact, the process was very fast and smooth. Try calling the US number, good luck.

It took me a couple of tries via email to receive anything back. Never did get an answer from the US phone number. They will email you a form to fill out and fax back with your credit card info - this is pretty much standard practice for many hotels in CR. Another suggestion - check your spam filter for any messages - it may be blocking them to your regular email. Will be at the Peace Lodge this Tuesday night!!! Yeah!!!

Also, make sure you're really on their own website. There is another website on Peace Lodge that is well-disguised, I found it via google and thought I was making a reservation through the lodge directly, and it was actually via a travel agency, and they initially screwed up my reservation. Once I realized, I cancelled it and booked directly through the lodge. Book through [email protected], not centralamerica.com
I had a wonderful time at Peace Lodge in April.

I had a hard time getting anything back from them as well - took a couple of e-mails before I heard anything back. I think they have a corner on the market, and they know it! I always say in my e-mail that I e-mailed on such and such date and have not heard back, could you please let me know the next step, and that seems to work. Good luck!

I am in the process of trying to make a reservation and have not heard from the website. I did call - using the number listed in this thread - and it was very helpful. No room in the inn for me!

Let me reassure you that the Peace Lodge is worth the effort! We had two rooms there last August that were spectacular. They are kind, generous people (typical Ticans) once you are there as well. On our last day, one of my sons (age 20) became ill. They allowed him to stay in his room until 4pm while we toured the park. We returned, feeling guilty, to find him surrounded by soup, toast and sodas that they had sent him complimentary! We tried to pay as we checked out late, but they refused. With the waterfall in his bath, butterflies and hummingbirds galore and views of the trout pond from the balcony jacuzzi,he felt like he had seen the park from his own room.
