Patzcuaro travel information

Since my husband and I won't be going back to our favorite Mexican place, Oaxaca, anytime soon, we've decided to try Patzcuaro.
We don't want to go during the rainy season, so we will wait until September or October. We also don't want to go during a national or religious holiday. Any way we can find out the goings on there during these months? (I know about Dia de los muertos).Any help would be appreciated.

I would visit the www.tripadvisor.com Patzcuaro forum and join the www.yahoogroups.com forum for Patzcuaro.
16 September is Mexican Independence Day/legal holiday.
El Dia de los Muertos is a major event in Patzcuaro.

Let me just say that they celebrated several times a week in Patzcuaro while I was there in March.(trip report "Back from Mex City & Patzcuaro"), I saw a verterans drum core, a founder's day, a Spring parade with all the children in costume, b'day of the Queen of Spain fireworks celebration. Happy to answer any questions, Day of the Dead is definitely the big one - also on Janitzio.

First It can rain A Lot in those months. the driest months are December through June but in the Mountains late afternoon showers can happen any month. Obviously Late October with Dia De Los Muertos is the worst time to avoid crowds. Patzcuaro is truly a wonderful place. I spend part of each winter in (Including 10 days this year) Michoacan so feel free to E-mail me with any questions.
