Paraiso de la Bonita vs. Maroma
Which would you pick and why?
Also, does anyone have any information about the Fairmont Mayakoba? Has anyone seen the location that could comment on the beach? With really inexpensive rates, we are considering tacking on a few days.
Thanks!

For me that'd be easy!! Maroma because of the beautiful beach. Paraiso may have better rooms, but I don't think the beach is too good.
I too, am awaiting more info on the Mayakoba...we've gone ahead and booked some days there in early August, (AAA rate of $229) and will tack that on to the JW Marriott in Cancun. My only concern about the Mayakoba is that it seems the more affordable rooms will be quite a ways away from the beach...
Hope you get more info !

The beach says it all:
Maroma:

Paraiso is somewhere around here:

I saw something about MayaKoba and everything that is going in there...I'll try to find it.

Thanks for all the information. Those pictures are amazing! Now I am considering trying to do both. Is the beach at Paraiso really bad or just not as amazing as Maroma? I have also read some not-so-great reviews regarding the rooms at Maroma. Any thoughts? Why oh why can't there be the perfect place?
Regarding the Mayakoba, has anyone actually seen the beach there?
Thanks again for the input.

There is also a Mandarin Oriental opening in the Fall. I'm sure it will be beautiful.

Also, Rosewood is opening a resort later in 2007.
There is a great article about Riviera Maya in January's Travel & Leisure. It talked a lot about Maroma and some of the other new resorts.

Look here for the beach at PdlB:

MayaKoba is north of Captain LaFitte and south of Secrets Capri. Looks like the Fairmont propery is mostly located on canals and a few rooms on the beach.
