faithie

I know you put up a lot of pictures and I viewed about half od them now and will see the other half later.

Is it possible to add a caption to the pictures.

Like: "Here we are on the lovely Yelpa Beach."

or, " My son sitting on a donkey."

Maybe the website does not allow captions.

Anyway the pictures are great and I enjoyed them all....will see the rest this evening.

Thanks fathie

Percy

I actually started doing captions , I was about 1/8 through when it kept telling me to " back up my photos ...? " Francois was out clearing the driveway of a ton of snow and I was stumped , I have every intention to do so . The first 20 should have some info . You see it when you enlarge , it's on the right .

Thank You suze ...all I had to do was "look".
Guess I did not see the captions at first...they are kind of hidden on the right hand side.

faithie:

I also was impressed by the many lovely doorways In Puerto Vallarta .

I am glad you captured them so well in many of the pictures.

Pictures # 192 and 197, yep ,the Liz Taylor Bridge, doesn't it look romantic !!!

Why thank you Percy !! I loved all the styles of doors , and how even the most modest home was dressed up with a bright splash of paint and a flower pot or 10 !! It was beautiful ..... Your a patient man to go through all those pictures !! Its also an easier way for me to show my 6 siblings in PEI , and the many neices etc. my photos . It was truly another successful trip . Just had our first EMail from my inlaws in Costa Rica ( they arrived yesterday ) , and so far so good ! Have a great night . Faith

I just finished looking at all the pics (well, I must have missed one, as Percy says you look cute like a faithie should and I didn't see you.) I saw your husband and kids. faithie, I am crazy but I am only following suite (and I am a lot older!!) as I am buying my airline tickets tomorrow. The added pics are fantastic. I even forwarded some of the Corona Delivery person in the helmet on to my friends stating that Yelapa is a safe environment!!! I do question your advice though. You said to pack LIGHT, and then you mentioned that you had your son empty his hockey bag so you could pack (is that an oxy moron??????????). I did take two extra bags (and left the bags) of school supplies to Tamarindo, CR. Is there someone (Veronica?) that I could contact to leave atleast one bag full of supplies for the less fortunate, if there are those in need? I really am planning on packing light for myself - correct? Last question. I don't speak Spanish, will there be a problem?

Great report, Faithie! You didn't disappoint. Thanks for shedding a great deal of light on a place I had never heard of before. It sounds very exotic and a nice option for us on the west coast.

Ha ! Ha ! The hockey bag stayed home in the end ! But we only had 2 big bags and our back packs for 4 people .... Yes , you can bring some supplies , I read on one website about the new medical clinic needing supplies . They suggested hydrogen peroxide , gloves , antiseptic , I believe itès on one of the sites I listed above .... Perhaps Brads site , ( palapainyelapa ) Were the pics of hotelLagunita and Yelapa as you pictured in your mind ....Trip Advisor has awesome reviews of the hotel as well . I am excited for you . I will try to find the info . And I did read a sign in town where the older students needed supplies for some sort of science project . I do know Brad would be in the know for this sort of thing . ( mention the family from Montreal ) lol .

Dyer ....Do go read Brads site , you get a lot of insight into Yelapa , Brad himself , and just the vibe of the place .
www.palapainyelapa.com ( should work ) He gives great suggestions for things to bring , and the site is just a wealth of information . As well www.yelapa.info by yelapa dave is full of great advice . Also there is the yelapa fun one . But Brads is a must . I believe I told you his office is the bottom unit to the right of the private stairs . Big , burly , guy with beard and intense blue eyes , very kind , you should introduce yourself . Hes cool . Basically he went to Yelapa years ago , fell in love with it and a Yelapian girl and never left . They are married now . Isabel is another character who went there 35 years ago , and dated the son of the then president of Mexico .... He is an artist now I believe , there are so many stories ! We were chatting , and meeting with people constantly .

That is TOO funny !!!! LOL , It DOES look like a helmet at first , but it;s the lighting .... really its a ball cap with the sunlight and shadows it appears a helmet . But , actually a ball cap . We were the ones intent on snatching the corona !!! That toilet looked nice as well !! Truly , its probably the place where I felt the most at ease in all my travels . And that pic was actually taken during the hike to the far waterfall , it was really , really , far away , I mean seriously off the beaten track . If you do that hike , you will see just how far off the beaten track I mean . If you take the trail starting behind Hotel Lagunita , just before you cross the new bridge there is a restaurant everyone was raving about .... you should try it . But if you start the hike from the other side of the river ( town side ) you will need to cross the bridge . In either case , the trail for the waterfall continues on the town side ...... So if you start out on the trail from Lagunita , you will need to cross this new bridge . Everyone we met raved about her food .

OK , I just confused myself with the above post . Restaurant = Lagunita side of river . Trail to waterfall = town side . So crossing bridge necessary if starting out from Lagunita . Far away = remoteness , actually a total of 2 hours from Lagunita to falls .

Welcome back, dear Faithie!!!!!! (First chance to write; been working a lot, paying for former and future trips.)
Well, your journey was meant to be, from my perspective too. Why? When you first posted that you were going to Yelapa, which I'd never heard of, checked website of your hotel and thought," I'll some day follow in her footsteps, if her trip report makes it sound as great as it looks." So I eagerly awaited Faithie's report. Next day at the hospital, someone posted a flyer for a trip to...Yelapa!!! Great price: includes airfare direct from my home town to PV, boat to Yelapa, meals, staying at Hotel Lagunita, and continuing ed Spanish class for RNs!! After reading your report, and seeing your amazingly beautiful photos..needless to say, I'm signing up!!!
MUCHAS GRACIAS for the detailed, sweetly funny, lovely story of your latest adventure. BTW, the children are beautiful too!

well ill be darned !!! That is amazimg Cali , and just too cool ! Actually if you sift through some of the amazing reports for Lagunita on trip Advisor , someone mentions a similar trip to what you are describing . This is quite a thing , as this place is not on the beaten path , like Cancun for example !! But a completely appropriate place for hardworking nurses to slow down and enjoy simple things , like whetheror not you will wear shoes today . It promotes peacefullness and happiness . I think you should do it .
