Paperwork for travel to Mexico with young children
Hello. My wife and I are leaving next Tuesday for Cancun with our two children. She has a passport and I have my original birth cert with picture license.
Question is what do we need for the kids (7 & 2)? Since both my wife and I are traveling with the kids do we need a notarized letter of consent? Where do we find the correct verbiage for this letter? Anything else we need for them...birth certs, etc? Thanks! |
You will need their original birth certificate, this is a must!!! Since it sounds like they are "your" children you do not need a notarized letter. This is only if you are bringing someone else's child, or if you were divored and needed permisson from the biological parent. |
Go to this official US Gov website http://travel.state.gov/travel/tips/...ures_1231.html - partway down the page is a link for tips on travel to Mexico. Also there is a link on Foreign Entry requirements. This should give you all the information you need. Agree with info provided by Ivitaly

official copies of birth certificates

Yes official copies of birth certificates are necessary for both of the children if they are traveling with both of the parents. Also it is a good idea to take a recent family picture with parents and the children just have with you while you travel. I do not want to scare you, but when traveling with children I am extra precatious just incase something goes wrong.

I have a certified abstract of birth for travelling to mexico for my step daughter (along with a notarized letter from her mother). Is the abstract ok?
