Panama City Airport Hotels

We have an over-night layover at PTY on the way to Manaus in January (mid-afternoon to mid-morning the next day). Any recommendations for hotels? If not near the airport, then where would you recommend? We were in Panama last year and stayed at the Country Inn on the Canal and liked the location but not sure we want to stay there again.
Thank you.
Jane

The Riande airport isn't the nicest hotel... All the city hotels are only 20 minutes away on the toll highway so you don't need to worry... There are hotels at all budget levels so it really comes down to how much you want to spend...

You will also be near to a lot more restaurants and nightlife for you one night in Panama.

Cheers,
Andrew

I stayed at the Riande and it was horrible. I'm not picky but this place grossed us out. The first room they brought us to had a leaky a/c so they gave us another one which wasn't much better. Both rooms smelled of mold, blankets were worn & dirty looking & bathroom wasn't clean. If I'd known how close the city hotels were to the airport I would've stayed in one of them. The only good thing I can say about the Riande was that the staff was very friendly & the shuttle got us to the airport on time.
